Xiaomi hasn't released a tablet under its Mi Pad range in over four years. Fast forward to 2021, and Xiaomi is preparing to bring the Mi Pad series back to life with the Mi Pad 5 range. Xiaomi was working on a trio of high-end tablets, which we first reported on in May. According to further reports, the tablets would have a design comparable to Apple's iPad Pro and will have a Magic Keyboard-like attachment. And now we know when the new Mi Pad series will be available.
According to rumours, the new tablet series is expected to arrive in August, but now we have formal confirmation from Xiaomi. Xiaomi announced the Mi Pad 5 would arrive on August 10th, only a day before Samsung's huge Galaxy Unpacked presentation, in a Weibo post today. Xiaomi has also released a teaser image that reveals the tablet would have pen capability. According to a recently discovered FCC listing, this pen might be dubbed Xiaomi Smart Pen.
There isn't much information regarding the Mi Pad 5's additional features. According to rumours, the tablet will include a 10.9-inch IPS LCD display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, a Snapdragon 8-series processor, and a dual-camera system on the back. a fingerprint scanner on the side
However, the Mi Pad 5 isn't the only thing Xiaomi will show next week. The fascinating Mi MIX 4, which will allegedly have a novel flexible display with an under-display camera, will also be unveiled during the August 10 event. On the rear, the phone is said to include a triple camera arrangement with a 50MP main camera, a 48MP telephoto lens, and a 48MP wide-angle camera. It's also expected to include Ultra Wide Band (UWB) compatibility for managing smart home devices. Other details, like the chipset, remain unclear, but with the phone's formal debut less than a week away, we shouldn't have to wait long to hear more.
